Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday reiterated that there is no existence of militant organisation IS (Islamic State) in Bangladesh.

“In our country, there’s no organisational existence of IS. Those who were arrested in the name of IS are members of Harkatul Jihad and Ansarullah Bangla Team,” he told reporters at his office.

The minister also said the law enforcement agencies successfully curbed those who had tried to raise their ugly heads in the name of militant and terrorist organisations in the country.

In reply to a query about banning Jamaat-e-Islami, he said, “It’s a subjudiced matter. I won’t say anything in this regard.”

Claiming that the law-and-order situation is under control, Asaduzzaman said the law enforcement agencies have been on alert to tackle any situation.
