Four policemen of district police were closed to the District Police Line early Tuesday on charge of negligence in duty.

The closed policemen are Nayek Shahidul Islam, Constables Rasel, Palash and Rahamat.

Police sources said a four-member team of district police leaded by Nayek Shahidul Islam was deployed at a check post at Signboard area on Dhaka-Narayanganj Highway on Monday night.

The team allegedly stopped the car of additional superintendent of police (administration) Mohidul Islam, who on his way to Narayanganj from the capital in casual dress, near the check post around 11pm and demanded bribe from him.

Though the four police personnel were closed to the District Police Line following the reported incident, the district police denied the allegation that the said police personnel demanded bribe from the ASP.

Contacted, ASP Mohidul Islam said the four cops were suspended for negligence of the duties as he found that they went to take tea at a tea stall leaving their posts.
